Best finest surgeon, come cut me open

I haven't done this thing in a while. Why, you ask? Well, there's the schooling. But really, that doesn't mean I don't have time. I spend MUCH of the time I should be studying scampering around the internet, looking for things more interesting than equine GI tracts or nephron infrastructure. Not to say that those things aren't interesting; they really are QUITE intriguing some of the time, but school is school, and I'm no real scholar. I get bored with learning, especially deep into the semester.

Mostly, I've taken to Tumblr like a kid to a new toy, and it's just so EASY and FUN! Sorry, little blog. I'm a bit A.D.D., what can I say. I find it weird to have so many forms of digital media to play with, but it is the way of the new world, and I can't say I don't love it, just a little bit...

The saddest part: I haven't been keeping up with my crafting! About the only thing I've created in the past 5 months is my zombie dolly backpack that I wore as Zombie Suri Cruise, with my friend Addie dressed as Zombie Katie Holmes this Halloween. Wanna see?

Here are me and a few of my friends (TMNT, classic! and I have no clue who Richard was, in the back) at the vet school fraternity's Halloween party. Good times! And, as far as my crafting goes, that was a $4 doll from WalMart with ribbon straps to make it into a backpack. I even created a pocket out of fabric lining and a button closure! Not to mention the matching Zombie blood from the mouth... Oh, and you can't see it, but that sheet of paper over my chest is a picture of Tom Cruise that says "Daddy's Girl" on top. I have to say, the costume may have been a bit too much for our audience, but it was fun none-the-less! Mostly, my friends are awesome, and we danced our asses off...

In other news, another of my favorite moments of this LONG semester has been a trip with my friend Judy to Atlanta to see ST. VINCENT! Ahhh, Annie Clark is of the gods...

These are my Holga attempts. Not GREAT, but I always have more of a connection to my Holga pictures than digital images. Although...

These are undeniably beautiful. (Especially the one of Judy and Jenna, there in the middle) Also, these are the reason I WILL be purchasing a Canon SX230IS. My, have point-and-shoots come a long way! Check out the badass video it took:

Can everyone just take a minute to contemplate what an amazing musician this woman is?! Jesus...

Ok. Moment over (for you at least; I think about it at least once a day).

Other things I've been up to:

  • Making really cool friends
  • Hanging out with my brother Seth and his adorable boyfriend Barrett, while they were around the Southeast (they just left, which makes me sad... but at least now I'll have reasons to visit Seattle again!)
  • A couple of NOLA trips
  • Celebrating my grandmother's 85th birthday - bitch still got it!
  • NOT celebrating my mother's 60th birthday - sadface (too many tests those weeks, I'll have to make it up to her over Christmas)
  • Loving my "new" home, and realizing the potential of Mobile Home decor (complete with a new Kitty Tower, created by my awesome Dad!)
  • Creating my first flower-bed with my Mom this past weekend! (Ok, mostly Mom... garden soon to come)
  • Cooking a lot. Turns out I kind of love it!
  • Swimming/spinning to keep the brain going (no coincidence that I've been slacking in the past few weeks, on both exercise and school...)
  • Getting FREAKED OUT by this state's inability to think clearly about reproductive rights (voted NO on initiative 26 TODAY! here's hoping the majority of the state did as well)
  • Listening to a lot of Sigur Ros while studying (as in, what I'm supposed to be doing right now. Boo, Infectious Agents, boo.)
  • Getting SUPER-EXCITED about a trip to SOUTH AFRICA THIS SUMMER! Can't wait to treat rhinos and water buffaloes and lions and giraffes!
  • Watching WAY too much television! (Dexter, Castle, Vampire Diaries, Modern Family, The New Girl... you name it)
  • Did I mention studying?
Ok. I guess that's enough rambling. I'll end with a picture demonstration of the last few months:
